Cola Wheels

originally uploaded by Meanest Indian.

Had a hilarious time with this pair. I spotted them in Raikhad but the light was bad and the streets too busy to get a good shot of their three-sheeled delivery vehicle. But they were only too happy to drive me to a better spot a few blocks away.

When we were leaving we pulled out onto a major road on the wrong side (as one often does in India ;-) I looked up to see a cop hailing us to stop. "Here we go" I thought and envisaged an ensuing threat of fine versus bribe. But instead it turned out that the policeman merely wanted a Coke! The guys opened one for him and we speed off – still on the wrong side of the road.

originally uploaded by roitberg.

Plus without warning or advertising in some supermarkets in Rio de Janeiro. I bought this 1,5 liter, but ther is a 350 ml can to that sold out in one day. The best Coca-Cola taste I ever drunk, and I already drunk dozens from a lot os countries, because I don´t collect full Cokes. Coke is for drinking not for storing..

2010 COCA-COLA 500 ML PET PLANT BOTTLE SUMMER BRAZIL 1

originally uploaded by roitberg.

This bottle model is around since 2007. It is a great design job and made to diferenciate this PET PlantBottle from other PETs. It's found around the world in regular or special short duration series in 400 ml, 500 ml and 600 ml. By the end of 2010 Coca-Cola expect to had produced more than 2 billion of this PPETs.

PlantBottle PET bottles are 100% recyclable and preliminary research indicates that they have a smaller carbon footprint than bottles made from traditional PET. Some produts, “Coca-Cola”, “Coca-Cola Light”, “Coca-Cola Zero” and "Cherry Coke regular and Zero" are being sold in PlantBottle. Most bottles contain 50% recycled PET, 35% conventional virgin PET and 15% PET derived from plant-based materials.

The most important thing is the pioneer use of cane (alchool) made polymers that is one of the major footsteps outside dependence of crude oil to have the polymer chain. And the 50% reclided PET int this bottles is an amazing polictically correct option.

King Size Coca-Cola
original by Phil Mooney (*)

I was researching in the photograph collection today and ran across this image from the February 1960 issue of Coca-Cola Overseas.  The Coca-Cola Overseas magazine was produced by The Coca-Cola Export Corporation from 1948 until 1971 and featured stories and photographs from our offices around the world.  The magazine serves as a great reference resource whenever I need to research our activities or advertising campaigns in different countries.

The photograph to the right was taken in November, 1959 and had the caption, "Maracaibo, Venezuela - During a recent promotion at the Sears store, this man on stilts introduced King-size Coca-Cola to over 7,000 visitors."

I was trying to guess how tall the stilts were?  Based on the car and the sign, I figure he must have been nearly 12 feet tall.  What do you think?
